Project Overview

The project includes a 5 MW Solar Farm that has development and grid connection approval for solar.

It is situated on the property ‘Alexandres’ south of Manilla under a proposed 35 year lease.

The project will generate enough power for approx 2,500 homes.

Once fundraise has completed, the project will enter the procurement and EOI process.

Local businesses are invited to register their details for upcoming contruction, and maintance works.

Single axis tracking

The panal arrays are designed to utilise single axis tracking solar technology, where the panels face East in the morning and rotate to face West in the afternoon to increase production by approximately 20% compared to fixed solar panels.

Battery Storage

The solar farm also has plans for an approximate 2 hour battery, subject to final design and finance. The battery storage will be able to soak up approximately one quarter of daily solar production and supply into the grid in the evening to meet peak demand, as well as providing fast grid balancing services.

To date, the Manilla Community Solar Project has been developed by Providence Climate Capital. This has included gaining grid connection approval and planning approval.

The next stages of the project are enabling community investment and ownership of the project, development finalisation and procurement of construction contractors. This will bring the project to investment readiness where the project will seek funding for construction from primarily community investment, and potentially other sources.
